Welcome to LibreTech Collective @ Georgia Tech! Georgia Tech’s only student-driven club for free, libre, & open-source: software, hardware, and knowledge.
We believe technology should be open, transparent, and accessible to all. That’s why we’re building a community where students can learn by doing, contribute to real-world projects, and champion the ethics of digital freedom.
Whether you’re a coder, designer, tinkerer, hacker, or just curious about open technology – you belong here!
- All Georgia Tech students are welcome to join. No membership dues. No project gatekeeping. Just pure passion and curiosity.
- Become a LibreJacket: Sign up via GT Engage, attend two events in a semester, and earn your spot as a voting member!

How We’re Organized
We are a democratic, self-governing collective with an Executive Board elected annually by members.
- President: Leads the collective, chairs meetings, oversees operations.
- Vice-President: Supports technical projects, workshops, and event planning.
- Secretary: Manages communications, records, and membership.
- Treasurer: Handles optional funding (grants, sponsorships) — no membership dues, ever.
Officers serve one-year terms and are accountable to the membership. No officer may hold office for more than 2 years.
LibreTech Collective is a Registered Student Organization (RSO) at Georgia Tech, but we are fully independent. We accept full responsibility for our projects, events, and values. We abide by all Georgia Tech policies — but our mission comes from our members, not the institute.
